Assistant Swim Team Coach At Bay Club Panthers

The Assistant Swim Coach for the Bay Club Panthers plays a vital role in nurturing swimming talent under the guidance of the Aquatics Director and Head Swim Team Coach. This position involves managing and coaching the Panthers USA year-round swim team, providing specialized coaching to advanced athletes, and ensuring an engaging, goal-oriented training environment. Basic Responsibilities

  1. Conduct coaching sessions for the USA swim team and manage stroke school programs.
  2. Be present on deck during all team practices, delivering consistent feedback to swimmers.
  3. Create effective, dynamic workout sessions tailored to individual athlete needs.
  4. Guide new swimmers into appropriate programs while offering feedback to parents.
  5. Maintain detailed progress records and adhere to swim school progression guidelines.
  6. Organize and run swim meets, ensuring accurate and timely entries.
  7. Collaborate with staff on events, meetings, and promotions.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Current certifications in Lifeguard/CPR/AED/First Aid.
  • USA Swim Coach certification with competitive swimming or coaching experience.
  • Preferred qualifications: ASCA Level III certification,
  • Experience teaching swim lessons to people of all ages is required.
  • Experience of competitive swimming, either as an athlete or a coach.
  • At least two years of experience in supervising, training, and evaluating staff.

Technical Knowledge

  • Pool Maintenance: Knowledge of pool operations and maintenance; Certified Pool Operator certification is a plus.
  • Computer Proficiency: Competent in maintaining computer records and utilizing software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Familiarity with other required software applications.

Skills

  • Sales and Marketing: Knowledge of strategies and techniques for promoting and selling services, including effective marketing approaches.
  • Problem-Solving and Reasoning: Strong deductive reasoning skills, with the ability to anticipate and address potential issues. Uses logical analysis to evaluate alternative solutions, weighing costs and benefits to determine the best course of action.
  • Communication: Excellent oral comprehension and expression skills, ensuring clear communication and understanding of ideas and information.

Team Manager – Alto Swim Club

Alto Swim Club is seeking a full-time Team Manager/Administrator to handle all team and business management tasks.

Alto Swim Club, the world-class USA swimming team in the Palo Alto and Stanford area, aims to be the nation’s leading training and high-performance swim team. We offer a swim program for athletes of all levels, from beginners to Olympians.

Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership, time management, and organizational skills
  • Proven experience as an office assistant, administrator, or similar role
  • Excellent communication skills—both in person and remotely
  • Knowledge of basic office procedures and principles
  • A motivated, enthusiastic team player

Responsibilities include:

  • Meet with the coaching staff four times a week, totaling 25–30 hours in the office. Additional hours may also be completed remotely if preferred.
  • Handle team billing and bookkeeping
  • Oversee new employee onboarding, approve time cards, and process payroll
  • Assist with onboarding new swimmers and their families
  • Coordinate with parent volunteers
  • Organize team travel
  • Plan and organize team-hosted competitions (about 10 weekends per year)
  • Assist with advertising, fundraising, community outreach, and social media

Head Age Group Coach – Ladera Oaks Swim Team

A Head Age Group Coach is needed for year-round coaching and as the Head PSA Summer Swim Team Coach for the Ladera Oaks Swim Team. This role involves leading daily practices, creating seasonal plans to meet developmental goals, managing swim meets, and maintaining regular communication with swimmers and parents.

Head Age Group Coach Responsibilities (Year-Round):

  • Lead three age group practices daily
  • Develop seasonal plans with monthly goals focused on long-term development
  • Help plan team events, social activities, and group promotions
  • Coach 1-2 USA Swim Meets per month, typically on weekends.
  • Communicate with parents both on deck and via email
  • Manage the Pre-Team program (20 swimmers)
  • Collaborate with staff to promote safety
  • Assist with club events (about 5 times per year)

Head PSA Coach Responsibilities (Summer):

  • Lead daily practices
  • Help manage Junior Coach staff
  • Run 2-3 PSA home dual meets
  • Send weekly emails to the team
  • Prepare meet lineups and organize parent volunteer sign-ups
  • Attend PSA board meetings bi-monthly
  • Serve as Meet Director for the PSA Championship meet

Required Qualifications

  • Current USA Swimming coach certifications
  • Experience coaching swimming at the club or collegiate level

Practice Location

Ladera Oaks Swim Team practices at Ladera Oaks Swim, Tennis, and Fitness Club in Portola Valley. Practices are held in two beautiful outdoor pools: a five-lane 25- yard pool and an eight-lane 28 yard pool.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual salary of $70,000 — $75,000 plus benefits
  • Opportunity to teach private swim lessons for extra pay.

Work Schedule

  • Full-time position
  • 15–20 hours of on-deck coaching per week, along with 10–15 hours of off- deck administrative duties.
  • Practices are Monday through Friday from 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM
